About Abbas Beydoun
Abbas Beydoun, born in 1945 in southern Lebanon, is a renowned contemporary Arabic poet and novelist. After studying Arabic Literature at the Lebanese University in Beirut and Islamic Studies at the Sorbonne in France, he returned to Lebanon to work as a culture section editor for various newspapers. Known for his plain, minimal language and complex, many-layered images and metaphors, Beydoun has published nine volumes of poetry and his first novel, »Tahlil damm« (2002; t: Blood test). He has also served as the Feuilleton Editor of the Lebanese daily »as-Safir« since 1997, and has been a trailblazer for the younger generation of Arab writers.
