Anna Banti, the pseudonym of Lucia Lopresti, was a prominent Italian biographer, critic, and fiction writer whose work often delved into the struggles faced by women in their quest for equality. After graduating from the University of Rome, she played a significant role in directing the literary and art sections of the magazine Paragone, taking over the latter after the passing of her husband, renowned art critic Roberto Longhi.
