Who is Henri Becquerel

Antoine Henri Becquerel was a renowned French physicist known for his discovery of radioactivity, which he shared with Marie and Pierre Curie. This groundbreaking work earned them the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1903. Becquerel was honored with many awards throughout his career, including the Rumford Medal, Helmholtz Medal, Barnard Medal, and Toffie Medal. He was also elected Permanent Secretary of the Académie des Sciences in 1908, the year of his passing at the age of 55 in Le Croisic. His legacy lives on through the SI unit for radioactivity, the becquerel (Bq), which is named in his honor. Additionally, both the Moon and Mars feature craters named after him, a testament to his lasting impact on the field of physics.
