About Hüseyin Can Erkin

Born in 1968 in Çorum, the translator and academic graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Japanese Language and Literature in 1991. He completed his master’s degree at Hokkaido University in Japan in 1996 and his doctorate at Ankara University in 2001. He spent a total of 6 years in Japan for research purposes, as well as shorter periods in Korea, China, the Netherlands, and Spain. His research focuses on the history of the warrior (samurai) culture in Japan, Japanese legal history, the history of Japan-West relations, and Zen Buddhism. He has also published books and articles on topics such as classical and modern Japanese literature, and Turkey-Japan relations.
