Biography Isabelle Arsenault
Isabelle Arsenault, une artiste et illustratrice franco-canadienne, est née à Sept-Îles, au Québec, en 1978. Elle a étudié le design graphique à l’Université du Québec à Montréal (2001) avant de contribuer rapidement à plusieurs magazines au Canada et aux États-Unis. En 2004, Isabelle a illustré son premier livre pour enfants, pour lequel elle a reçu le prestigieux Prix du Gouverneur général pour la littérature jeunesse en français (illustration). Sa passion pour les livres illustrés l’a poussée à poursuivre cette voie, ce qui lui a valu d’être finaliste à plusieurs reprises pour les GG (“My Letter to the World”, “Migrant”), finaliste pour le Prix Marilyn Baillie en 2011 (“Spork”) et d’avoir son livre “Migrant” parmi les 10 meilleurs livres illustrés de 2011 selon le New York Times. En 2012, elle a remporté son deuxième Prix du Gouverneur général pour les illustrations de “Virginia Wolf” en plus de remporter le Prix jeunesse des libraires du Québec pour “Fourchon”. Isabelle, qui apprécie de travailler de manière intuitive, adopte une approche de son travail inspirée par les projets qui lui sont confiés. Son style est imprégné de sensibilité et de finesse, attirant l’attention des jeunes autant que celle des plus âgés, qui peuvent parfois en saisir une lecture plus en profondeur.
