Who is James Gurney

I was born on June 14, 1958 in Glendale, California and grew up in Palo Alto as the youngest of five children to Joanna and Robert Gurney. My father was a mechanical engineer. I graduated with a B.A. in Anthropology with Phi Beta Kappa honors from the University of California at Berkeley in 1979. After that, I studied painting at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where I met my wife Jeanette. We moved to the Hudson Valley of New York State in 1984, where we raised our two sons, Daniel and Franklin.
