Janice Maynard’s writing journey began at a young age when her third-grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair. From there, she continued to pursue her passion for writing, even winning a six-pack of Coke for her commercial piece in sixth grade. Throughout junior high and high school, she shared her work with a wider audience, and in college, despite focusing on academic writing, she never lost her desire to be published. Finally, in 1996, she achieved her dream when Kensington Publishing bought her first book, Sweetheart. This led her to leave her teaching career in 2002 to pursue writing full-time.
