About Jessica Holter

Jessica Holter is a multi-talented artist known for her work with The Punany Project, which she created in 1995 after the suspicious death of Eric “Eazy‐E” Wright of AIDS complications. As a gifted public speaker, poet, and visual artist, she released her first book, Punany: The Hip Hop Psalms, in 1998. The anthology, complete with erotic poetry, safer sex PSAs, sensual images, and a musical soundtrack, gained her recognition with performances on HBO’s Real Sex, Playboy TV, and Black Entertainment Television. Holter also brought the text to life on stage in erotic sketch and romantic comedy theater shows, drawing comparisons to Augusto Boal’s Theater of the Oppressed. Her writing, including the recurring pimp-ho element, has been the subject of academic analysis, and her poetic works were published by best-selling Author Zane in the book Verbal Penetration. In 2010, she released her novel The Punany Experience, The War Between Tops and Bottoms with Simon & Schuster and an audiobook on Audible.
