Jesús Moncada i Estruga, born in Mequinensa (Baix Cinca) in 1941 and passed away in Barcelona on June 13, 2005, was a Catalan writer. The main setting of his literary work is the Franja d’Aragó, where he lived until it was flooded by the Riba-roja d’Ebre reservoir. He is considered one of the most important Catalan authors of his time and received several awards for his work, including the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona and the Premio de la Crítica in 1988 for Camí de sirga, as well as the Creu de Sant Jordi from the Generalitat de Catalunya in 2001.
