John Birmingham was raised in Ipswich, Queensland and received his education at St Edmunds Christian Brother’s College in Ipswich and the University of Queensland in Brisbane. He briefly worked as a researcher at the Defence Department before returning to Queensland to study law. However, he ultimately chose to pursue a career as a writer and currently resides in Brisbane.
