Kenneth John Alexander Wishnia, also known as Kenneth Wishnia, is a highly acclaimed author known for his debut novel, 23 Shades of Black, featuring the character Filomena Buscarsela. The book was short-listed for the Edgar and Anthony awards for best first novel in 1998. Wishnia has also written three subsequent Filomena mysteries, including Soft Money, The Glass Factory, and Red House. Wishnia was born in New Hampshire, and is a graduate of Brown University with a Ph.D. in comparative literature from SUNY Stony Brook. He currently resides in Long Island, New York with his wife, who is a native of Ecuador, and their two children. Wishnia is also a professor in the English Department at SUNY Suffolk.
