About Kim Stafford

Kim Robert Stafford, an American poet and essayist, currently resides in Portland, Oregon. He obtained his B.A. in 1971, an M.A. in English in 1973, and a Ph.D. in medieval literature in 1979 from the University of Oregon. Since then, he has been teaching writing at Lewis & Clark College in Portland and has also taught courses at various other institutions, including Willamette University and the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology. Additionally, he has led private workshops in both Oregon and Italy. Stafford is the founding director and artist-in-residence at the Northwest Writing Institute, and he is also the son of poet William Stafford.
