Who is Mary Miley
I am a Virginia native and Army brat who has made the state my home for most of my adult life. My educational background includes a BA and MA in history from the College of William and Mary, and I spent thirteen years teaching American history and museum studies at Virginia Commonwealth University. I am a prolific writer, with over 200 magazine articles and 12 nonfiction books to my name, mostly focused on history, travel, and business topics. Additionally, I have written 9 historical mysteries set in the Roaring Twenties. In my free time, I can be found at Valley Road Vineyard, our winery in the Virginia mountains, where we produce wine in a style that would have been illegal during the Prohibition era of the 1920s.
Mary Miley’s books offer a fascinating glimpse into the history of prohibition-era America, with each novel serving as a captivating blend of historical fiction and mystery. Through her well-researched and engaging storytelling, Miley not only entertains readers but also sheds light on the social and ideological conflicts of the time, tackling issues such as gender roles, race relations, and the impact of prohibition on society. Readers will find themselves immersed in a vividly recreated setting and compelled to ponder the overarching themes and moral lessons that Miley’s work so thoughtfully presents.
