Who is John Stockwell
John R. Stockwell is an American former CIA officer who, after thirteen years of service and seven overseas tours of duty, became a vocal critic of United States government policies. Notably, he managed U.S. involvement in the Angolan Civil War as Chief of the Angola Task Force during its 1975 covert operations. He resigned from the Agency and wrote In Search of Enemies, which remains the only detailed, insider’s account of a major CIA “covert action”. In addition to his CIA career, Stockwell also served as a reserve officer in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1977, retiring as a Major.
